Cinnabon apologizes for tasteless Carrie Fisher tweet
Despite abundant evidence that it's a terrible idea, brands continue to tweet inane things after beloved celebrities die.
Cinnabon offered up a particularly egregious example of this practice when it tweeted shortly after Carrie Fisher's death on Tuesday that the actress will "always have the best buns in the galaxy."
The tasteless attempt at a product-integrated Star Warsreference naturally fell flat among Twitter users, and the brand deleted the tweet and issued an apology hours later.
In its statement, the pastry brand insisted the sentiment was genuine but conceded that the company "shouldn't have posted it."

And so it was agreed, it would seem, that the tweet came off as one corporation's regrettable bid to grab publicity by latching onto people's mourning.
But this is 2016, and our nation is more badly fractured than ever. So naturally, there were also people defending the cinnamon roll maker's intentions.

Can we at least agree that the joke was not nearly good enough to recycle from a past tweet?
